Member's gallery photo preparation
Any member can display their images in our gallery pages, there are two ways to do this:
Using your Flickr images
If you have a Flickr account, it's easy...
- Let Jo Webb know which gallery or photostream you would like to link to.
- Supply one image that will become the link to your gallery, this should be sized at 166 pixels square.
If you don't have a Flickr account.
You just need to do a little images resizing using your software, e.g. Photoshop Elements.
- Choose which images you would like to display in the gallery.
- Resize each image so that either the height or width, whichever is greater, is 588 pixels, the other measurement should be 588 pixels or less, depending on the proportions of the image.
- Save these images into a folder called 'images'.
- The titles of the images should be obvious from the filenames.
- Now create a 'thumbnail' image for each image, these need to be sized at 65 pixels square, and often work better if you crop into the images rather than just resizing further.
- Save these 'thumbnail' images using the same filenames as the larger verions, but into a folder called 'thumbs'.
- One last image to create is the image that will become the link to your gallery from the Member's gallery homepage. This image should be 166 pixels square, and called 'gallery.jpg'.
- Save this image into a folder named with your name, add both 'images' and 'thumbs' folders complete with their images into this folder.
- Copy the files to a usb memory stick or CD and give it to Jo Webb.
