General Rules
- Each club member shall be classified as Advanced (A) or Intermediate (I) for the purposes of club competitions. The club committee shall deal annually with the classification of members. New members shall be classified as Intermediate unless otherwise decided after reference to evaluation of previous work and experience.
- Each entry in a club competition (excepting those competitions where a trophy is awarded to the sole winner) shall be awarded points by a judge. Points for the three highest marked entries for each competitor in each competition shall accumulate through the season to determine the individual winners of points trophies. The trophy will only be awarded where there are two or more entrants in the applicable competition.
- An image may only be entered in two club competitions. An image that gains a place in competition (i.e. is awarded a merit card) cannot be entered into another points competition but may be entered into an applicable trophy competition.
- A print made from either a placed slide or projected digital image or a projected digital image created from a placed side is not eligible for entry into club competitions in the same season that the original image gained its place.
- When a competition is over subscribed the 5th and, if necessary, the 4th and 3rd entry preferences will be excluded.
- Acceptance of a late entry to club competition is entirely at the discretion of the Competition Secretary responsible.
- Interclub and External Competitions will have separate rules.
Print Competitions
- Each member can submit up to four prints for entry into each competition. Each entry should be marked 1, 2, 3, or 4 in order of preference.
- Each print must have an image of not less than 60 sq. inches and be securely mounted on a firm mount. Member name, class A or I, and the title of the picture shall we written on the back of the mount only.
- Entries may be printed by the entrant or trade processed, except for the Corbishley Colour Shield. Entries may be in colour or monochrome excepting the Andrews Cup which is for monochrome only. Monochrome is defined as black and white with or without graduated tones. It can be modified by a single tone rendered over the whole image.
- Print titles must be given to the Print Secretary one week prior to the competition and the prints delivered to the hall on the competition evening by 7:40pm at the latest.
Panel of Small Prints Competitions
- This competition is open to members of both classes, and will comprise two sections: i) non-manipulated prints ii) manipulated prints. A non-manipulated small print is defined for this competition as being either a trade processed fixed ratio enlargement produced from the whole of the original negative by a photo processor at a retail outlet or by mail order service or a print of substantially the whole of the in-camera digital image without any manipulation applied.
- An entry will consist of a panel of three small prints of a related subject securely mounted onto a single firm mount. Prints shall not be less than 5" x 3.5" or greater than 7.5" x 5". They may be overlaid to enhance presentation but must not be trimmed or mounted to form a single image.
- A member my submit up to four panels in this competition. Each entry should be marked 1, 2, 3 or 4 in order of preference, Member name and a general title or description of the panel shall be written on the back of the mount only.
Projected Image Competition - Slide
- This competition is open to members of both classes and there is only one classification category for slides. Each member can submit up to five slides into each Slide competition.
- The slides must be delivered to the Slide Secretary one week prior to the competition.
- Slides must be presented in a firm plastic slide mount. If, in the opinion of the Slide Secretary, a slide mount is not satisfactory for use in the club projector the entry will be excluded.
- The slide mount must be spotted in the bottom left-hand corner, marked with Member name and 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 in order of preference.
Projected Image Competition - Digital
- Open and Set Subject digital image competitions are open to all members and will be a single class for the 2008-2009 season. In subsequent seasons classes A and I will apply.
- Each member can submit up to four images in colour or monochrome for entry into each competition.
- All images must be provided in JPEG file format
- The colour profile that will be in use is sRGB.
- All images will be projected at a resolution of 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high and therefore image files should be provided at at maximum of this size. For clarity a landscape format would have a maximum width of 1024 pixels and a portrait would have a maximum height of 768 pixels. If you are unable to resize the image file, the competition software will resize it for you but this may alter the appearance of the image.
- All files must be named correctly with the title and the authors name in this format: Title by Author.jpg for example Flowers by David Smith.jpg
- Please keep your name consistent across all entries to all digital competitions. For example always use David Smith rather than Dave Smith or D Smith. Any entries with different names will not count towards any previously accumulated scores for the season.
- Digital image files may be submitted on a CD or a member stick or can be emailled to croxleycameraclub@yahoo.co.uk
- All entry forms and CD's/memory sticks must be handed to the Competiton Secretary by the Wednesday proceeding the competition date or alternatively, email entries must be received by 6pm on the Sunday before the competition.
