The first evening of the new season was enjoyed by all. It was an opportunity for the members to catch up after the summer break and to extend a welcome to new members. There were two competitions held on the night, a portfolio of images from the trip to St Albans and the Chairman's Challenge where Graham had asked us all to produce an image in-camera which showed shape/form and/or texture.
There were images on various formats in both competitions and it was quite a feat for the judges to compare slides, prints and digital projections. Although there was a good turn out of digital entries, after much discussion the eventual winners were Barbara's print of a Benjamin Britten memorial sculpture showing a marvelous range of texture and light and Marjorie's small prints which showed the St Albans Organ Theatre in wonderful detail.
Thanks to Paul and Graham for taking on judging duties, Melanie and Colin for providing us all with tea and cakes and to everyone who brought in images for the evening.
